Gordon State College

Move on When Ready The Move on When Ready program at Gordon State College provides an opportunity for academically-accelerated high school sophomores, juniors and seniors, to take college courses in lieu of their remaining high school requirements.

MOWR Is open to High School Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors. Students earn credit for high school and college at the same time. Is offered during the Fall , Spring and Summer semesters.

MOWR Tuition is completely paid for by Georgia Student Finance Commission. All Mandatory Fees are waived, however if there are any course fees (Science LAB Fees) the student IS responsible for paying. Books are also covered under Move on When Ready.

MOWR One semester of college work is equivalent to an entire year of the same subject in high school. .5 equals = 1.0

MOWR Students who participate in MOWR can either be part time and take one or two classes; or students can be full time and take a full college semester load. The MOWR program will not prohibit you from participating in high school athletics, clubs, organizations and events. MOWR students can participate in college activities as well. They are eligible to use the GYM, tutoring on campus, library, etc.

MOWR The positive side is that you will have gotten your feet wet of what a college class is like. You will be ahead of your graduating class in completed college course work. Unlike AP classes there is no test at the end that decides if you get college credit or not.

MOWR Admission Standards Minimum 3.0 GPA in the Required High School Curriculum. Minimum SAT score of 970 (Critical Reading and Math) with no section being below a 430. Minimum ACT Composite score of 20. English ACT score must be 17 or higher and ACT Math score must be 18 or higher.

MOWR Documents Needed For Admission Gordon State College Paper Application (NO FEE) Official SAT or ACT scores Official High School Transcript Certificate of Immunization Complete the Online MOWR Application through www.gacollege411.org

MOWR The online MOWR Application MUST be completed each semester that the student participates in the program. You want to complete this Application as early as possible because once the App is submitted, it will go to the High School Counselor, then to the Financial Aid Office and then to an Advisor.

MOWR MOWR will only pay for classes that are on the Approved High School Course Directory. Students wishing to take classes that are not on the approved list are allowed to, however will have to pay all charges with their own funds.

MOWR The MOWR Program is for serious and focused students. The grade you make in the college classes will be the same grade you receive in high school. If you fail the class then it can prevent you from graduating. Most high schools require a year commitment when doing the MOWR program. Meaning you can not start classes and halfway through the semester decide to drop them and return to the high school classroom.

MOWR Students must pass and adhere to all regulations at the high school. Pass End of Course Tests Pass Graduation Tests Pass Sequence of High School Math If in 10th grade student must take Geometry at High School.

MOWR Are there deadlines? No, however the early bird gets the worm!!! How do I get to classes? Depending on your school, students are responsible for transportation. When should I do everything? As early as possible. When do I register for classes? Once Accepted, students will come to a MOWR Orientation where they will receive their schedule, student ID, and answer any remaining questions.

MOWR The cost is $50 dollars. To Register for the test you can e-mail isat@gordonstate.edu or call (678) 359-5138 The Institutional SAT is only good at Gordon State College.
