Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs)‏

What are STIs? Sexually Transmitted Infections are infections that you can get by having sex with someone who has been infected Not everyone who has an STI feels or shows any symptoms A person can have more than one STI at the same time

Who is at risk for STIs? Anyone who has sex, no matter what kind (vaginal, anal or oral) can be at risk for an STI. Anyone who has had more than one partner, or has ever had sex with someone who has had more than one partner.

Who is at risk for STIs? Anyone who has shared needles for drugs, body piercing, or tattoos. Anyone who has come in direct contact with body fluids of an infected person

STI Statistics 19 million new infections every year Two-thirds of all STIs occur in people 25 years of age or younger. Half of all new STI infections occur in teenagers. Cervical cancer in women or Oral Cancer is linked to HPV. At least 15 percent of all infertile American women are infertile because of tubal damage caused by pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), the result of an untreated STI.
