What is Title I and How Can I be Involved? Annual Parent Meeting Konawaena Middle School 8/16/2017

Definition of Title I: Title I is a K-12 program that provides additional academic support and learning opportunities for students The program is intended to help ensure that all students meet state academic standards. Title I is allocated to schools based on the percentage of student receiving free/reduced lunch. Schools with a percentage of at least 40% are eligible for a schoolwide program.

Konawaena Middle School operates a Title I Schoolwide Program.

A Schoolwide Program means: The school uses Title I funds to upgrade the entire educational program of the school. Title I funds are used to serve all children in order to raise academic achievement. Title I funds will be used to provide additional assistance to all students who experience difficulties in meeting the State’s Standards.

To be a “Schoolwide” School: The school must have a free/reduced lunch count of at least 47.2%. The school must collect and analyze data that effects student achievement. The school must develop a comprehensive site plan and annually review the effectiveness of the plan.

Konawaena Middle School’s Title I School wide Program provides that “All Students demonstrate they are on a path toward success in college, career, and citizenship”

Planning Team: Teddy Burgess, Principal Seurgis Palakiko, Vice Principal Reiko Andrade, SASA Robert Kobzi. Title I Coordinator Brianne Lane , Parent, Teacher

Summary: The school wide plan desired outcome is to ensure that all students graduate from High School college and career ready by creating a set of common learning expectations for English Language Arts, mathematics , and literacy in Science and Technical Subjects , Social Studies and History . They are rigorous and commensurate with learning they will encounter in college or their careers.
