1 What is Title I and How Can I be Involved?
Annual Parent Meeting Roosevelt Middle School 9/6/18

2 Definition of Title I: Title I provides federal funding to schools to help students who are low achieving or at most risk of falling behind. Title I is allocated to schools based on the percentage of student receiving free/reduced lunch. Schools with a percentage of at least 40% are eligible for a schoolwide program.

3 Roosevelt Middle School operates a Title I Schoolwide Program.

4 Schoolwide means: The school uses Title I funds to upgrade the entire educational program of the school. Title I funds are used to serve all children in order to raise academic achievement. Title I funds will be used to provide additional assistance to all students who experience difficulties in meeting the State’s performance targets.

5 To be a “Schoolwide” School:
The school must have a free/reduced lunch count of at least 40%. The school must collect and analyze data that effects student achievement. The school must develop a comprehensive site plan and annually review the effectiveness of the plan.

8 Curriculum and Instructional Strategies:
Curriculum aligns to Oklahoma Academic Standards and OKCPS Standards for Math and ELA Marzano’s Focused Learning Model Roosevelt Focused Elements Professional Learning Communities

9 Assessment: Oklahoma School Testing Program for grades Students will be assessed in Math and English in 6th and 7th grades. 8th grade will test in math, English, and science. District Common Assessments in core areas throughout the school year. Common Assessments created throughout the year during PLC’s for each unit.

10 Smart Goals By the end of school year, each OSTP will increase state test scores by 7-9%. By the end of the school year, average student attendance will be 95%. By the end of school year, suspension counts will decrease by 10%.

11 Title I Parent Notification Requirements

12 Parent Involvement Policy
Parental Involvement Policy can be picked up from the main office or can be located at the district website Opportunities for involvement include: Joining PTSA when started Volunteer around the school (must complete volunteer application on district website) Other Parent opportunities will be highlighted in monthly newsletter beginning September 2018

13 School-Parent Compact
School-Parent Compact will be made available through the main office and on the school website when completed

14 Parent’s Right to Know – Student Achievement
School wide achievement scores will be posted on the schools website. Scores will be sent home to parents when they become available. Individual OSTP scores will be sent home to parents via letters.

15 Parent’s Right to Know – Non-Highly Qualified Teachers
Schools are required to notify parents if their child has been taught for four or more consecutive weeks by a teacher that is not highly qualified. All teachers at Roosevelt Middle School are Highly Qualified.

17 Parent Involvement Opportunities
Volunteer opportunities at family fun nights, dances, at the movies. Join PTSA (See Becky Flynn)

18 Right to Request Meetings
Upon the request of parents, the school must provide opportunities for regular meetings for parents to formulate suggestions and to participate, as appropriate, in decisions about the education of their children. The school must respond to any such suggestions as soon as practicably possible.
