1 SUNSET ELEMENTARY Title I Presentation

2 Definition of Title I Title I provides federal funding to schools to help students who are low achieving or at most risk of falling behind Title I status is allocated to schools based on the percentage of students receiving free and reduced lunch Schools with a percentage of at least 40% are eligible for a school wide Title I program

3 Schoowide Program means…
The school uses Title I funds to upgrade the entire educational program of the school Title I funds are used to serve all children in order to raise academic achievement Title I funds will be used to provide additional assistance to all students who experience difficulties in meeting academic performance targets

4 To be a Schoolwide Program…
The school must have a free/reduced lunch count of at least 40% The school must collect and analyze data that affects student achievement The school must develop a comprehensive site plan and annually review the effectiveness of the plan

6 Parent Involvement Policy
Our school developed and modifies a Parent Involvement Policy each spring Copy of Parent Involvement Policy for Sunset Elementary was sent home in the first day packet. A copy is also posted on the web page. An additional hard copy of the Parent Involvement Policy can be obtained by contacting the vice principal.

7 School-Parent Compact
Our school developed and modifies a School-Parent Compact each spring A copy of the School-Parent Compact for Sunset Elementary was sent home in the first day packet and can be discussed at SEP conferences. A copy of the School-Parent Compact is posted on the web. An additional hard copy can be obtained by contacting the vice principal.

8 Parent’s Right to Know Title I schools are required to notify parents if their child has been taught for four or more consecutive weeks by a teacher who is not highly qualified. All teachers currently teaching at Sunset Elementary meet the highly qualified status as outlined by the Federal government.

9 Right to Request Meetings
Upon request of parents, the school must provide opportunities for regular meetings for parents to formulate suggestions and to participate, as appropriate, in decisions about the education of their children The school must respond to any such suggestions as soon as practicably possible.
