September 3-7 Kelly.Randolph@henry.k12.ga.us Davida.lyons@henry.k12.ga.us September 3: Labor Day: No School September 6: Picture Day September 4-14 : Conference Weeks September 11: Patriot Day- 8:15 am September 17-21: Fall Break: No School Parents, We are working hard to accommodate everyone for conferences. We appreciate your support as we team up to review your students strengths and goals for kindergarten! If you have not scheduled a conference with your child’s teacher, please do so as soon as possible. Please remember that students are tardy after 7:45 am. If students need to eat breakfast at school, then they should arrive no later than 7:30. Thank you for your help in ensuring our students are fresh, confident, and ready to learn each morning! What are we learning this week? I can ask and answer questions about a text. I can identify the character, setting, and main events in stories. I can print letters. I can name all upper and lowercase letters. I can follow words from left to right, top to bottom, and page by page. I know that spoken words are represented by specific sequences of letters. I know that words are separated by spaces in print. I can ask questions to compare and sort objects made of different materials. I can use my senses and science tool to classify objects by one or more characteristics. I can count to 100 by ones and tens. I can write numbers 0-20. I can count forward from any given number. I can classify objects into given categories. I can identify Labor Day as a national holiday. I can compare and contrast how different families celebrate Labor Day. I can describe positive character traits as related by people’s jobs and Labor day. I can describe Labor Day celebrations then and now by using words about chronology and time.
