Anemia Taylar Young 5th Hour

Anemia is a condition when a person doesn't have enough healthy red blood cells to carry oxygen to your body's tissue or if your body is too low on Hemoglobin. Hemoglobin is a protein that gives oxygen something to stick to on the red blood cells. Anemia was first discovered when a man named Walter Clement Noel went to a doctor named James B. Herrick with symptoms of anemia in 1910.

AGE: Anemia is commonly found in anyone from a new born to 40 years old but is most commonly found in people who are ages 41 and up. GENDER: Anemia is most commonly found in females but males are still capable for the disease. CULTURE: Women who are African American or Hispanic are more likely to be anemic than Caucasian women.

Anemia effects the circulatory system most because the disease takes place in the blood and your blood is considered to be part of your circulatory system

Some causes of anemia could be blood loss, lack of iron in your diet or pregnancy. Anemia could easily start as something small and grow to be something much more dangerous. Click to add text

Since there is many different types of anemia there is many different treatments. Some may be as serious as surgrys and blood and bone transfusions and some may be as small as a change in diet.

Some ways to prevent iron deficiency anemia is choose iron rich foods like seafood, beans, or dark green vegitables. Another way to help prevention deficiency anemia is by choosing foods containing vitamin c to enhance iron absorbition. Some foods with vitamin c are strawberries, kiwi, peppers, and tomatos.

People with anemia often get tired very easily and can easily lose their breath. Some other things are chest pains and weakness.
