KINDS OF SENTENCES Grammar Lesson

A sentence that makes a statement. declarative A sentence that makes a statement. It ends with a period. Ex: I like to play soccer.

A sentence that asks a question. interrogative A sentence that asks a question. It ends with a question mark ( ? ). Ex: What is your favorite food?

A sentence that gives a command or makes a request. imperative A sentence that gives a command or makes a request. It ends with a period or an exclamation point ( ! ). Ex: Don’t touch the hot stove!

A sentence that shows excitement or a strong feeling. exclamatory A sentence that shows excitement or a strong feeling. It ends with an exclamation point ( ! ) Ex: That ride was awesome!
