Year 6 Residential Trip to Bowles 15th October – 19th October 29th October – 2nd November Meeting for Parents

What is it like? Bowles is a unique venue where young people can be inspired.  They will be challenged yet safe, and cared for whilst having the independence to make decisions and to take responsibility for their choices and their actions. We believe in developmental outdoor learning and in growth through experience, as well as fantastic activities. Life at Bowles is busy, it takes place around an exciting, packed programme of activities, interspersed with healthy, hot, home cooked meals.

Arrival

Accommodation block

Accommodation We will be staying on one floor in the accommodation block. There are four rooms for boys and four rooms for girls, with the teachers’ rooms in between. Children have already given preferences of who they would like to share a room with and they are all guaranteed to be with at least one of the people they picked. Doors to leave the floor will be locked each night for security.

Food An area of the dining room is allocated to our school and we will have a set meal time. Bowles provides healthy, tasty meals and the kitchen staff are wonderfully supportive of children’s needs. The children will have a full breakfast, a cooked lunch and a hot evening meal each day. Special Diets The catering staff are used to providing for a wide range of dietary requirements and all special diets are catered for eg: vegetarian, vegan, no dairy, halal etc. You will have already specified any specific requirements.

Activities A range of team building and physical activities have been planned. Most of the activities will take place within the grounds of Bowles. All of the activities are led by Bowles Instructors but we will always be with the children, supporting them throughout the day. The children will be supervised at all times – day and night! The children will be in groups of 9/10 which they will stay with for the week.

Return Upon return on the 19th October/2nd November, children should be collected at approximately 4pm from the school hall. Any delays will be relayed by school staff.

Discuss with your child the importance of good and considerate behaviour during all aspects of the visit. A discipline procedure similar to the one we have in school will be in operation. In the case of any illness, staff will make a decision and contact parents where necessary. Parents will always be contacted in an emergency.

You can browse and gather more information about our residential trip on the Bowles website: www.bowles.rocks

We are certain that the children will have a fabulous time and will have very fond memories of their school journey in the years to come.
