Where? Grosvenor Hall, Ashford, Kent How long to travel? Approx. 1.5 hours Transport? Coach Leaving school approx. 10:30am Adults accompanying pupils? Currently 7 members of staff going on trip Aim of the trip? To provide pupils with a chance to develop their independence and confidence; to provide high-energy challenges; encourage team building, promote physical exercise and develop strong self-esteem.

3 Room allocation Usually 2-6 pupils in a room Pupils asked to list the names of friends they would like to share a room with – order of preference Teachers to organise rooms and pupils using the lists made Aim to have at least one chosen friend to share with Pupils informed on the first day of residential Pupils expected to be in their rooms by 9:30pm. Regular checks carried out throughout the night by school staff and Kingswood security

Introduced to lead instructor Shown around the site – fire assembly points, our accommodation, location of activities, etc Opportunity to take luggage up to rooms Lunch Activities Lead Teacher to have regular contact throughout the day with SLT and office staff. We will add updates to Class Dojo but will not be able to respond. Parents can communicate via office in case of emergency.

5 Expectations of behaviour
High standards of behaviour expected at all times towards school staff, instructors, other schools If pupils can’t be trusted at school, they can’t be trusted on a school trip. We will be reviewing pupils behaviour from now leading up to the residential. If pupils break the rules expected for the residential, then school staff will have to come and collect the children and they will return to school.

6 Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner - free Spending money – tuck shop
Each group is allocated a time for breakfast, lunch and dinner slots Varied starters, main meals and desserts offered – veg, halal, meat, fish options available; hot/cold dishes; salad bars Tuck shop – pupils given one opportunity to visit – max. £10 spending money allowed – money to be sealed in an envelope with the child’s name and class. To be handed to school office

7 Packing suitcase Pack old clothes as clothing will get dirty during activities Packing list available on the Kingswood website Packing list will be sent out with pupils soon after SATs week, you will half term to get everything ready. Pack in a ‘medium-sized’ wheelie suitcase Pupils will need a rucksack Be aware: pupils will need to carry their own belongings at all times All items should be labelled with name. NO MOBILE PHONES/ELECTRONIC DEVICES ALLOWED – will be confiscated

8 Activities/Instructors/Health and safety
Pupils will be organised into teams Each team will have a team leader/s (member of school staff) Each activity is led by trained instructors who have been vetted, inducted and trained to the highest level Health and safety is discussed with pupils at the beginning of each activity If instructors feel that a pupil, or pupils, have not listened to, or followed, the health and safety instructions, they will be withdrawn from the activity
