DO NOW: Take out your homework What are some things that you wonder? What are some things that you notice?

I will be able to: apply my knowledge of ratio and rate reasoning So that I can: make sense and persevere in solving a real world problem to determine the number of miles or gallons needed I will know I got it when: I can earn a score of 2 or better on an MCAS Open Response independently. 6.RP.A.3, 6.MP.1, 6 MP. 6

Language Objective By the end of the lesson, students will be able to use the language domains of reading and writing to communicate the academic math language of ratios and rates per unit measure. They will apply their knowledge of ratio and rate reasoning to make sense and persevere in solving a real world problem to determine the number of miles or gallons needed. They will show they understand when they can earn a score of 2 or better on an MCAS Open Response independently. Academic Math Language Vocabulary: rate, ratio, unit rate

You will have 3 minutes to discuss the problem. Then you will have 15 minutes to write your rough draft. Afterwards you will have 2 minutes to discuss with your partners your answers.

You will have 20 minutes to write your final draft. Make sure you are following A.E.E. (Answer, make sure you restate your question in your answer, explain and show your evidence!)
