Beginning of class  Take a seat by the time the bell rings, put your phone/headphones away, log on to ConnectEd, and sit quietly while I get the news ready. During class  Listen, participate, and ask questions. End of class  Stay in your seat until dismissed. Do not line up at the door. GRADE SET-UP Academic Dishonesty Students are expected to bring all the required materials to class, every day. Students are expected to show up to class on time, and follow daily procedures as instructed on the first day of class. In social studies, it is very important to cite your work. Failing to do so implies that the ideas presented are your own, and if they are not, this is plagiarism. DO NOT PLAGERISE! Cheating and plagiarism will have a ZERO tolerance policy. I understand mistakes happen, but a clear case of plagiarism or cheating will not be tolerated.

Grading Scale Attendance Students are expected to be present for every class, due to block scheduling, missing one class is equivalent of missing two classes. Please try to be present and on time each day of class. I understand things happen, you get sick, family emergencies, etc. I will allow students to make-up or turn in late assignments at my discretion. Excused absences, such as field trips or medical emergencies will always be allowed retakes, make-ups, or late submissions, without consequences.

Classroom Rules BE PRESENT – The students are expected to pay full attention in class. To do this, the student will need to be present mind, body and spirit. SHOW RESPECT – Respecting the learning environment is vital for the class to function at its full potential. Students should keep open minds and be respectful to themselves, their peers and the school staff (in and out of classroom) GIVE 100 – Simply put, students are expected to give their 100 percent effort throughout the year. Being fully engaged, prepared, and on task will set the student up for success. Consequence Procedures 1st Occurrence: Student will be issued an initial verbal warning 2nd Occurrence: Student will be given the opportunity to “Cool Off” by standing toward the back of the class 3rd Occurrence: A one-on-one conversation will occur during student classwork time between student and teacher 4th Occurrence: The instructor will have the student contact their parent and will relay to them their behavior in my class, and I will request t speak to you over the phone 5th Occurrence: The student will be referred to the administration for disciplinary action PLEASE NOTE: The instructor reserves the right to skip any occurrence as they see fit. Depending on their misbehavior, students may be immediately sent to administration.
