Springfield Primary School Primary 1 Information Meeting Thursday 21st June 2018- 9.15-10.15am

Parental Partnership Education is a partnership between parents/carers and school staff. Staff at Springfield Primary School welcome and value the support and involvement of parents/carers in their child’s education.

First Day Tuesday 21st August 2018 – from 8.50-3.15pm. Staggered entry 8.50am and 9.15am - Time and date on the front of induction pack. Entrance to Primary 1 from the front playground. Parents/carers can settle their child in the class (on the first day). Pick up in playground at 3.15pm See pack (especially the summary/fridge sheet) for information about the first few weeks in school. A plea – only photograph your own child / no no video cameras in school please.

School Hours From Wednesday 22nd August 2018 Monday to Thursday 8.50am – 3.15pm Friday only 8.50am – 12.25pm See pack (especially the summary/fridge sheet) for information about the first few weeks in school

Morning - Safety at school Drop off at the playground gates - supervision from 8.30am. All children then line up outside their classroom - doors open at 8.50am If your child is late please take them to the office Please park safely

Breakfast club – Begins for P1 children on Wednesday 22nd August 2018 from 8.15am Morning Break 10.30-10.45am – all children are supervised in the playground area. Small healthy snack, suitable shoes and outdoor clothes. Lunch Time 12.00-1.00pm - all children are supervised in the playground area. Children are entitled to a free school lunch. They can also choose to bring a packed lunch or have a home lunch. Sign-up on iPayment to choose lunches at home.

End of the day - safety Children will initially be released one-to-one from their class teacher. It is important that your child stays with the teacher until “their grown up” collects them. If whoever normally comes to collect your child at the end of the day is late, your child will be taken to the main office. Please notify the school of any changes to your child’s normal pattern of leaving school.

Practise dressing skills… buttons, shoes, jumpers, buckles … Label all belongings Encourage handling of pencils, books, crayons and scissors

Encourage your child to… … share with others … listen to and follow instructions … tidy up Train your child to cope with basic hygiene independently.

What does my child need for starting school ? School Uniform – (labelled) order form in pack Indoor shoes – named (to be kept in school) P.E. Kit in bag – named (to be kept in school) Basics in a pencil case – pencil, rubber and sharpener A jacket for playtime and a school bag Snack for playtime Bottle of water each day – non-flavoured

School Uniform Order forms are in pack. Order online. White polo shirt/white shirt/white blouse Green sweatshirt/jumper/cardigan Dark skirt/pinafore/trousers Suitable outdoor shoes Please label all items.

Positive Behaviour Strategies Repairing relationships through Restorative Practice. Stickers, awards, public praise and visit to HT or ADHT. Positive feedback to parents/carers House points ‘Quality Dining’ table. Golden Time System. All children start at Green. Verbal warning – encouraged to ‘TURN IT AROUND’. If no improvement child then turns to Amber. If still not improved then Red card will be given and 5 minutes loss of Golden Time.

Medication Children requiring medication to be taken during school time - parent/carers need to complete forms which are available from the school office.   Absences It is essential that you contact the school as soon as possible. If the school is not contacted then a Group Call alert will be sent. e

Get Involved! Family Learning Programme. Parent Council and Parent Fundraising Group. Parent Helpers are always welcome, contact Miss Baillie if you are interested.
