1 P7 Curriculum Meeting

3 Arriving at school School begins at 09:00.
Parents should ensure children arrive punctually. Supervision begins at 08:45. Parents wishing to leave children before this time are asked to use Sleepy Hollow or the Breakfast Club. Parents may use the ‘drop off zone’ in the car park. Children must alight the vehicle from the passenger side.

4 Arriving at school When the bell rings children are expected to line up quietly in the playground and will be escorted to class by teachers. On wet days P1 and P2 pupils should go straight to their classrooms. On wet days P3-P7 children should go straight to the Assembly Hall. No child should enter a classroom in the morning, at break or lunch, without permission. No child is permitted to leave the playground/school grounds, without permission For reasons of safeguarding parents should not enter the school building before 9am. If you require assistance please contact the school office.

5 Pupils arriving late Parents should accompany their child to the office as all doors are locked from School staff will accompany P1 and P2 children to their classroom, pupils in P3-7 may walk to their own classroom.

6 Leaving the school School finishes at 14:05 for P1-3 classes and 15:05 for P4-7 classes. All classes are escorted to the appointed exit by school staff. Parents and carers are asked to collect children promptly at the end of the school day. Those children attending Sleepy Hollow or after school clubs must proceed to agreed area. Pupils should be aware of who is collecting them each day.

7 Leaving the school Parents should inform the school if a new arrangement has been made for collection. Parents/carers should remain outside the gates of the playground before 14:00 & between 14:10 and 15:00 to facilitate outdoor lessons. To facilitate after school clubs, parents should exit the playground promptly after collecting their child. All children should return to the school office if they are not collected. Pupils attending after school clubs must remain with the adult responsible for the activity until collected.

8 Curriculum Communication Using Maths
- Reading - Writing - Talking & Listening - Drama - Linguistic phonics Using Maths - written, mental, problem solving and practical activities. Topic Based Learing(World Around Us, The Arts, PE) - Ireland (Term 1), Junior Entrepreneur Programme, (Term 2), Flight /Titanic (Term 3) .

9 - Games - Dance - Athletics
UICT - Taught across all areas of the curriculum. - Research and explore topics. - Opportunities to evaluate information and express their knowledge and opinions by producing documents and completing activities. - Exhibit and exchange work. Religious Education - Grow in Love Programme. - Confirmation. - Alive-o 5 programme. Physical Education - Games - Dance - Athletics - Gymnastics - Swimming (Term 2) Personal Development and Mutual Understanding -Taught across all areas of the curriculum. - Continue to help pupils’ holistic development and sense of belonging.

11 Assessment for Learning
In Class Assessments - Friday tests (Phonics), Assessment tasks (Communication, Using Maths, Using ICT). - Continual monitoring of progress with positive, constructive feedback to pupils (oral and written). - Pupil self-assessment / Peer Assessment. 12 Uniform General - High standard, very well presented, promotes image of school. Physical Education - Pupils come to school in PE uniform and change into their full school uniform after their PE lesson has concluded.

13 Healthy Eating and Allergies
Healthy Eating Policy - Healthy snacks for break and lunch. Nut and Fish Allergies - Be conscious that several pupils in the school experience allergy issues.

14 From w/c 1st Oct pupils will receive a practice test for homework.

15 Behaviour Management & Child Protection
Positive Behaviour Management - Teacher has primary responsibility. - Consistent fair rules, agreed and discussed with pupils. - Promote, highlight and celebrate positive behaviour. Child Protection - Mr Donaldson (Designated Teacher) - Mr Donnelly (Deputy Designated Teacher)

16 Other Information Vetting Forms Contact/ Medical Information
- No longer required for assisting with supervision on educational trips. Contact/ Medical Information - Ensure the office has up to date information. Attendance & Punctuality - Ensure good punctuality and inform the school of any absences. Mobile Phones Only if necessary and after a note from parent(s) has been given to the teacher. Phones given to teacher at 9.00am (switched off), returned at home time. NO OTHER DEVICES SHOULD BE BROUGHT TO SCHOOL.
