Question #1-2 The Middle Ages ( Dark ages, Medieval Times) lasted from what years to what year? ( approximately) A: About 500-1500 AD 2. What were the Crusades? A: A war between European Christians and Middle Eastern Muslims for the holy land.

Questions 3-4 3. What is the feudal system? A: A system of trading land for military services between nobles and knights. 4. What is a large estate that is owned by a noble or knight? A: A manor

Question 5-6 5. A country that is united under a single strong government is called… A: A nation-state 6. What was the Magna Carta? A: An English document written by nobles that limited the king’s power.

Question 7 Who was Joan Of Arc? A: A teenage, French girl who led the French war to victory over the English in 1430. She was captured in1430 and executed for Heresy. ( She claimed that God told her to lead the French to victory. The Roman Catholic Church believed she was a witch as a result and burned her at the stake- she was later pardoned and became a Saint.)
