Sociological Theory Pedro Lopez fits best into a combination of the differential-association and behavioral theory. Lopez learned criminal behaviors at a very young age, beginning with his mother who was a prostitute. After he was kicked out of his house at age eight for touching his sister, he then joined a gang in the capital city, Bogota. While in the gang, he learned to steal. These two negative influences intertwine with the behavioral theory. Not only was his mother a prostitute, but his father was killed before he was born. Lopez lived with thirteen siblings. After going to Bogota, Lopez, eight, was raped repeatedly by a male stranger. Around twelve years old, a male teacher molested him. Again, while in prison he was gang raped. When he was finally released from prison, all of the anger he felt by being dominated and abused morphed Lopez into a killer. As mentioned in one of his quotes, Lopez wanted to take away the innocence as many girls as possible, just as his had been. This led to him raping all of the murdered girls and then strangling them. From his choice of targets, it can be concluded that Lopez felt anger towards his mother. She was known to constantly abuse him.
