Ian Brady aka Moors Murderer

Evidence After killing Evans with the Axe the guy Smith who was at the house went home and called the police, they came to the house and found the evidence and a description of how they would kill him in Ian's girlfriend, Hindlys car. If Smith had not mentioned Brady's claim that other bodies were buried on Saddleworth Moor the cops would not have found anyone else. Already familiar with the unexplained disappearances police were able to find the area and began digging for the bodies of the children who had gone missing in the area over the previous two years.

Most recent crimes On the evening of October 6, to witness Brady killing 17-year-old Edward Evans with an axe. After Evans was finally throttled with a length of electrical flex, Hindley and Brady joked about the mess, and also told David Smith of other victims buried on the Moors. Concealing his horror for fear of meeting a similar fate, Smith assisted them with the clean up, before returning home to tell his wife and alert the police.

Most recent Crimes Convinced by Smith's tale, police and reinforcements arrived at Brady's home finding the body of Evans in an upstairs bedroom, and arrested Brady. Brady claimed that there had been an argument between himself, Evans and Smith that had got out of hand, denying that Hindley had anything to do with the murder. She remained at liberty until four days later, when police found a document in her car describing in detail how she and Brady had planned to carry out the murder.

Sentenced Ian Brady and girlfriend, Hindley were sentenced to three terms of life imprisonment Went from hospital to jails and asked to be put into a Scottish prison so they wouldn't force feed him.

Anomie Theory The theory that best explains Ian Brady is the Anomie theory. His actions fall under the innovation category. It was known that Ian Brady suffered from a mental illness as a kid, this reflected in his small crimes he started out doing. What started the crimes were watching his dad and mom fight and then being put with another family and then back with this mother. Ian Brady's main concern for committing these crimes was to feel enjoyment. He had a hard life as a kid, he never really knew who his father was and his mother gave him up when he was very little, he had a fascination with the Nazis. His crimes started very small and then throughout the years started to escalade quickly.
