5 Robert William Pickton: The Pig Who Killed It is not hard to say Robert had a troubling childhood. When he was a kid he was labeled as “special” and had to go into special programs. Tainting his childhood already Robert witnessed a sight he will never forget. His favorite pig as child was slaughtered right in front of his eyes. Now though this is not much, he may have been affected physiologically. With one death in his head he would grow up angered. Along as his pig death his horse, Goldie, died and so Robert put its body in his trailer. Starting to show strange signs of craziness I can depict he has been scarred. In prospective I can assess the anomie theory toward Robert. In my findings the anomie theory has coincided with Roberts’ life. His early life of only knowing pain and slaughter is what grew him into what he is today. In life his norms have been that slaughter is “OK” and that nothing is wrong with this. So in his actions he was able to get through enduring pain of killing a person. Now though this theory doesn’t follow this I have depicted that Robert had troubles with his mother or women in general. Being as the kid with special programs he may have been made fun of. So in his later life he will want to target young women even though they have never harmed him. My last theory is the denial of victim or labeling theory. Robert has found that the victims he killed deserved it. So in other words, Robert killed for his early life as a child and sometimes just for self- pleasure of inflicting pain on people.
