5. Labeling Theory When Moses was little his father died and his mother was left alone to care for him and his siblings. She couldn’t support them and therefor had to give them up to a local police station. This was the first hint to the labeling theory. He felt as if he was worthless and his mother didn’t want him. This helped develop an aggressive attitude towards women. This was the root of his killings. He was first arrested for rape and he always remembered the name of that first woman who turned him in. he compared the rest of his victims to this girl because he was labeled a rapist. His attitude was aggressive and rooted with evil towards this girl who “ ruined his life”. This is secondary deviance because he raped this girl and was labeled a rapist by police. This was before he started killing his victims. I believe he still would have committed these crimes if he wasn’t labeled a rapist after his first rape. He was kind of messed up in the head.
