Jeffrey Dahmer Patrick Coursen

Jeffrey Dahmer -Jeffrey Lionel Dahmer
-Known as the Milwaukee Cannibal or Milwaukee Monster -He was born May 21, 1960, and died November 28, 1994 -He was beaten to death in prison by Christopher Scarver while serving on work duty.

Jeffrey Dahmer (cont.) -His mother, Joyce Annette, was known to be greedy for attention, and paid little attention to her son. She would work herself up over small issues just to get attention from her husband, Lionel Dahmer. She even attempted to overdose to gain attention.

Jeffrey Dahmer (cont.) -From an early age, he began examining dead animals, and had a fascination with animal bones. According to a friend, he loved to dismember roadkill carcasses to see how each animal “fitted together”.

Dahmer (cont.) -When his family moved to Bath, Ohio, Dahmer began high school at Revere High School, where he had few friends. -Jeffrey abused alcohol all through high school, beginning when he was 14 years old. He drank beer and spirits before, during, and after school. -Teachers noted that he was quite intelligent, but only achieved average grades because he didn’t care. -He realized he was homosexual when he reached puberty, though he did not reveal this to his parents. -He graduated high school in May, 1978.

His First Incident -Dahmer’s first attempt to hurt anyone occurred when he was 16 years old. -He intended to lay in wait for a jogger her found attractive, knock the jogger unconscious, and make “sexual use” of the joggers unconscious body.

His Parents -Dahmer’s parents got a divorce after failed counseling and, in 1978, his father moved out of the house. -Before his father moved out, the parents often fought and argued in front of their children.

Lead up to Military -Dahmer committed his first murder just 3 weeks after graduation. -He killed Steven Hicks, dismembered his, and scattered his bone dust in the yard. -He dropped out of college after just 3 months. -He joined the Army in January, He was discharged in 1981 due to his consistent alcohol abuse.

Active Killing -Though his first kill was in 1978, Jeffrey Dahmer did not start regularly killing until He is known to have killed 16 people between September, 1987, and July 19, 1991.\ -He was caught on July 22, 1991, when a victim, Tracy Edwards, escaped from him and told the police what had happened.

His M.O -Jeffrey Dahmer killed his victims however he could, it seemed, and the cause of death could not be found for most victims because he soaked the bodies in acid. His testimony helped police to know what happened after he killed. -According to Dahmer, he would kill the victim, use the body to satisfy his sexual desire, then dismember the body and clean the flesh from the bones using acid. -It is suspected that he killed because of a possible obsession with necrophilia.

Luis Garavito Patrick Coursen

Overview -Known as “The Beast” or “Tribilin”, Luis Garavito is one of the most notorious serial killers, having been proven in the killings of 147 young boys, but suspected in over 300 murders.

Early Life -Born January 25, 1957 in Genova, Quindio, Colombia. -Had 6 brothers -Was physically and emotionally abused by his father, and allegedly sexually abused as well

Killings -Garavito killed poor peasant children on the streets of Colombia -He would lure the children in with small gifts of money or food, then take them on a walk. When they got tired, he would rape them, cut their throats, and usually dismember them. -There are no exact dates to his killings, but during the 1990’s, many young Colombian boys were reported missing. It is suspected this is when he was actively killing.

Capture -In 1999, Garavito was arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a young boy. He then confessed to the murder of 140 young boys, was proven in the murder of 189, but is suspected of killing over 300.

Imprisonment -There is conflicting information online regarding his imprisonment, but the most common fact was that Garavito was sentenced to 40 years in prison (That is the maximum time a person can be imprisoned in Colombia). -This sentence was reduced the 22 years when he helped find the bodies of many of his victims. -It was again reduced due to good behavior. And it is entirely possible that he is free right now. (though some say that he is serving time in an Ecuadorian prison for killings he committed there.
