First Year Plan Workshop Spring 2018 Copper Mountain College

Student Success & Support Process Complete the New Student Orientation (Done) Complete Assessment Testing (Done) Complete the First Year Plan Workshop Select the classes you should take your first two semesters at CMC Log into your MyCMC Portal and: Locate your CMC email account Register for one class Complete your Student Education Plan (SEP) Lists all classes needed to graduate and/or transfer Tells you what classes you should take each semester Tells you how long it will take you to graduate All communication from CMC will go to your CMC email account. You must check it regularly! This is the only way we can ensure there are no holds on your account so you can register after you leave today Your GPS to Success

Schedule of Classes Listing of Course Offerings by Semester Lists the following class information: Days the classes meet Times classes meet Locations & rooms where classes meet Name of the instructors The schedule changes every semester The course offerings change every semester Not all courses are offered every semester or year You will use the Schedule of Classes to choose what classes to take each semester.

Register online or in-person Registration Dates SPRING 2018 Nov. 14 Priority Registration (EOPS/ACCESS/CalWORKS Active Duty, Veterans, Foster Youth) Nov. 15-16 Continuing Students & Qualified New Students Nov. 17 Returning Students Nov. 20 Open Registration (includes K-12 Concurrent Enrollment) Feb. 5 Registration Ends Register online or in-person

Payment Plans are available. Paying for Classes FAQ The payment deadline is Dec. 4th for Spring classes After this date payments are due when you register “I have not applied for Financial Aid yet. What should I do?” Register for classes now. Apply for financial aid at www.fafsa.gov. Print out your confirmation page and take it to the Financial Aid window in Student Services. They may be able to award you the BOG Fee Waiver on the spot if you qualify. “If I register and don’t pay, what happens?” You will eventually be dropped from your classes for non payment. You will not be responsible for the cost of the class. “Should I wait to register until I figure out how to pay for classes?” Do not wait to register. Classes fill up quickly and you may not be able to get the classes you want now. Register now and work with the Financial Aid Office regarding paying for classes. At worst, you will be dropped from your classes for non-payment. Payments by phone, call 760-366-3791 ext. 5312 or go to the Cashiers Office. Payment Plans are available.

Questions about your math, English, and reading placement? Multiple measures are used to determine final placement in math, English, and reading courses. We use a combination of measures: Assessment Results High school or college transcripts Goals & Plans Student Characteristics If you feel that your assessment placement is not accurate please speak with a counselor.

Don’t Forget to . . . . Turn in your worksheet before you leave the workshop You may not get credit for this workshop if you do not turn in the paperwork Log onto your MyCMC Portal and identify your CMC Email link CMC communicate to you through this email address only Register for at least one class This is the only way we can check to ensure your account is set up properly and there are no holds on your account If you do not do this, you may not be able to register for classes when you leave If you are not ready to register for classes, register for one class and then drop the class to TEST the system
