Skills and Techniques Higher P.E.

Principles of Effective Practice VPSMARTER In your jotter write out what each mean and mention where and how you could apply them in your training programme.??????? You have 10 minutes to complete this!

My Training Programme Training Programme: 6 weeks 3 times a week Period of 1-2 hours Rest periods between drills maintained quality practices.

Programme for OHC Weeks 1-2 (a combination of drills from the preparation and practice stages to try to develop weak parts identified in the technique and make practices achievable, in order to build success and confidence. Shadow Drill Single feed drill Conditioned Games

Week 3-4 include drills to groove technique and accuracy from the practice stage of learning Repetition Drills Target Drills

Weeks 5-6 continuing to groove technique and accuracy and drills to develop decision- making and disguise from the automatic stage of learning because technique is more grooved, and practice needs to be more realistic and game related with increasing competitive demands. Pressure Drill Decision Making Drill Conditioned game.

An example of an explaination Shadow Drill (Volleyball example) – In the preparation stage, I did shadow drills. One involved me starting on one side of the net, running low by bending my knees under it and to the other side. Assuming the correct posture and position or a dig shot – not unlike a model performers – pausing for a moment then returning back under the net to the starting position. I repeated this several times so I could get used to the correct movement for the technique. The main focus was to get a low stance and to have the feet wide apart and bend my knees.

Repetition drills (another volleyball example) In the practice stage I did repetition drills to groove my technique and clicked the sub- routines from the previous stage of learning. One drill I did was when my partner spiked the ball towards my feet from approx 10 ft away and I used to “dig” it back up in the air choosing either to take off or put on pace returning into controlled to him/her.

Question Describe in detail the training programme you carried out to develop your overhead clear. (6 marks)
