TEAM BATH AC Track Etiquette TEAM BATH AC Track Etiquette These rules are designed to reduce the risk when training and competing in the indoor and outdoor track areas. These areas can be like a busy motorway and athletes may not see or be able to stop in time to prevent collision. TEAM BATH AC Track Etiquette 1. DRESS APPROPRIATELY STV requires that all track and field athletes wear the appropriate training attire for the training session that they are taking part in. This means tracksuits, shorts, leggings, top, vest or a combination of these. Footwear should be appropriate for the event with track spikes no longer than 6mm.

TEAM BATH AC Track Etiquette TEAM BATH AC Track Etiquette 2. DO NOT ENTER Do not enter the track area unless you are competing or training in this area. Do not enter the track unless you are about to start the run/drill When waiting to run stand off the track until instructed to enter TEAM BATH AC Track Etiquette 3. BE AWARE No head phones or mobile phones in the track and throws areas. Keep them in your bags or lockers. This will ensure that you hear warnings that will prevent injury.

TEAM BATH AC Track Etiquette TEAM BATH AC Track Etiquette 4. ACCESS POINTS Use the correct access points for the Indoor and Outdoor Tracks No direct access to outdoor track across indoor track unless specifically directed by your coach. TEAM BATH AC Track Etiquette 5. WALKWAYS Keep to the designated walkways. These are: Either side of the indoor track The walkway around the outdoor track Keep track lanes clear of bags and water bottles

TEAM BATH AC Track Etiquette TEAM BATH AC Track Etiquette 6. LOOK BOTH WAYS If you are crossing the track check both ways and make sure it is clear. Crossing to the centre of the track should only occur near the finish line and in a straight line. Pay attention when crossing the track. TEAM BATH AC Track Etiquette 7. BEFORE YOU RUN Do not enter the track until instructed. Check that the lane is clear prior to running. If someone is in your lane when running shout ‘TRACK’ they should move. If you hear ‘TRACK’ then move out of the way and off the track

TEAM BATH AC Track Etiquette TEAM BATH AC Track Etiquette 8. WHEN YOU STOP When you complete your run you will move to outside lane 8 (sprints) or inside the track (distance) as soon as is practical after checking that the track is clear for you to do so. Recovery should be outside the track lanes TEAM BATH AC Track Etiquette 9. ANTI-CLOCKWISE ONLY All activities to be in anti-clockwise direction unless by special agreement.

TEAM BATH AC Track Etiquette TEAM BATH AC Track Etiquette 10. THROWS/JUMP RUN UP ACROSS THE TRACK Javelin /High jump runways only to protrude on to track when track is clear. Communication between track & field groups is vital. Track etiquette should apply. TEAM BATH AC Track Etiquette 11. THROWS AREA Do not cross the grassed/roped off throws area in the centre of the track even if no throws can be seen.
