 Mr. Larry Kinsey Mr. Larry Kinsey  President@lionspride.org President@lionspride.org  www.howardlionspride.org www.howardlionspride.org

 Tyler Wade (Head Girl’s Coach) Tyler_Wade@hcpss.org Tyler_Wade@hcpss.org  Zack Dickerson (Head Boy’s Coach) Zachary_Dickerson@hcpss.org Zachary_Dickerson@hcpss.org  Dave Glenn (Assistant Coach)  Brian Gertzen (Assistant Coach)  Phillip LeDuc (Assistant Coach)

 Feel free to email Coach Wade or Dickerson about any issue, even if you think it is minor.  Text alerts: Text @14a3f7 to 443-955-5113  Website acts as a middleman, Coaches can’t see kids/parents phone number and kids/parents cant see coaches phone number

 Practice starts everyday at 3:00!  We take attendance everyday.  We will practice everyday unless HCPSS says we cant. Depending on temperature / Thunderstorms we may be inside but we will still practice  Athletes are encouraged to have 2 sets of practice clothes, a set for outside and one for inside (At least for the first month of the season)

 If an athlete has to miss or come late to practice for an excused reason (Sickness, Doc Appt, help from a teacher) the athlete should inform the coach either in person or via email ahead of time. They need to bring a note from the teacher or parent with them when they return.  We will have Saturday practices, typically from 10-12, unless we have a meet that day.

 We will practice over Spring Break. A schedule is already posted on the website.  If you are going to be out of town over part or all of spring break please email me letting me know.  Athletes who are in town are required to be at practice over break.

 The following applies to UNEXCUSED absences and lateness.  1 st Offense – Warning  2 ND Offense –Email / Phone call home  3 rd Offense – Will not participate in the next meet (No matter how important the meet)  4 th Offense – Removal from the team.

 First step is to Inform a coach  See Athletic Trainer Ms. Palermo. Most running injuries require only a few days off or easy running. If injuries warrants a doctor’s appointment than she will tell you so.  If a doctor says you cannot practice then you will not practice or participate in meets until cleared by doctor’s note

 If you haven't already please create or update your swol account.  This information is used by the coaches to be able to contact you quickly if there is an emergency.  If you completed this for the fall all you have to do is change the sport to track.

 Tri Meets meet’s – 2 buses max 90 kids. (Home Meets – Everyone)  Invitational meets – 20-25 boys /girls spots.  County and Regionals Championships – Counties - top 3 in each event.  States must qualify

 We encourage everyone to stay the entire meet to cheer on and encourage teammates.  If you are going to take your child home you (or your child) must bring in a note to the office at least 24hrs prior to the meet. The note must be signed by the parent/guardian. The note will then be signed by our AAM (Mr. Duffy). Note then will be given to a coach.  You must check out with a coach before leaving.  You may only take your child home.

 Boys need to buy a combination lock.  We will give the girls Combo Numbers to lockers shortly.  If personal items are left out in the open they will be stolen.

 Spirit Wear  Buy Howard Track gear and a % goes back into the program.  You will be getting order forms shortly.

 March 15 at Road Runner Sports  Discounts on everything in the store  We get money based on the number of athletes and parents that show up.  6-8pm. You don’t need to stay the whole time.

 New fundraiser this year. We will be selling Coffee Mugs, Water Bottles, and Tumblers for 20$  Athletes are encouraged to sell as many as they can. There will be prizes / clothes rewards if you sell a certain amount.

 Wednesday March. 6 th and 20 th  We need about 10-15 parents to help out with the meet.  Duties would include resetting the high jump bar when it falls, raking the pits after long jump, rolling shot-puts back after they are thrown, organizing runners in the finish chute after they finish and helping in the concession stand.  Great way to see your kids up close!  I will send out reminders as the meet gets closer but please email me if you know you can help out!

 We have new Track uniforms this year  We are asking that you buy the shorts $20 (45 retail price) Advantages: -Athletes get to keep them. -Athletes will not have to worry about someone else wearing them or having to wear someone else's in the future. -If there are financial concerns, please email us and we will figure it out. Cross Country and Indoor Track Runners DON’T buy another one!
