Mrs. Zhang’s Classroom Procedures 3rd Grade Mandarin Program 2016-2017

Basic & Overall Requirment Be Respectful- Listen to speaker, respect property, use appropriate language and volume, respect others, report concerns to an adult. Be Responsible- Take ownership of actions, have materials ready and use materials appropriately, raise your hand, complete work. Be Safe-Keep hands and feet to self, stay in seat, keep area clean, walk.

Rules for Classwork Make sure your name is on the paper. Make sure the date is correct. Place work in appropriate basket. Finish early? You may read mandarin books or work on other homework. If you have verified you finish all the work, you may work on mandarin challenge puzzles.

Homework? Homework! HW must be written down on planner before dismissal, parents must initial each night. HW will be checked each day. Have a question? See me before class. Not complete? Spend your recess time. Still not completed? It will be sent home for your parents to sign. Finish classwork excellently, you’ll get less or no HW.

Procedure for coming into the class Wait in the hallway in a straight quiet line until the instructor ask you to come into the classroom. Walk in a straight quiet line and go straight to your desk. Get out your pencil and book or homework from the night before and get started on your morning work or assigned work.

Procedure for cleaning up Teacher says “clean up”. Clean up quickly and QUIETLY. Sit in your clean seat QUIETLY. Wait for teacher’s next direction.

Procedure for leaving class Teacher dismisses your group or class. Stand up quietly from your desk and push your chair in all the way. Go line up at the door in a straight quiet line and wait for the teacher to open the door. Line up in the hallway in a straight quiet line and wait for your teacher. Everyone need to ask for permission to leave at anytime.

Daily class procedures 1 Entering classroom Entering the classroom quietly, sit in your assigned seat, and take out required materials. 2 Materials to get ready Mandarin, math or science notebook and pencils. You are expected to bring at least 2 pencils to class everyday, if your pencil breaks while I am teaching, you still have the other one. 3 PLANNER When you sit down, please look at the board and copy down the daily objective and other important information on the correct date.

Rules to ask questions If you are having any trouble or question, raise your hand. Wait PATIENTLY for your teacher to come to you. Be courteous and quiet when you are waiting for teacher.

Rules for talking in class When the teacher is speaking to the whole class, PLEASE be QUIET and listen. When you are working at your workstation, Library Voice is allowed to speak to your neighbor. If you have a question, raise your hand and wait for your teacher to call you or come to you quietly. Team discussion should be kept at a reasonable voice level.

Expected vs. Unacceptable Listen to directions. Stay focus and on task. Be responsible and on time. Stay in your area with your chair. Keep your hands to your own stuff. Respect each other’s work & time. Walk in class. Use indoor voice. Refuse to follow instructions. Show disrespect to others. Disturb others, making distracting noises. Not cooperating. Argue with teacher. Damage classroom materials. Leave seat without permission. OTHER.

SAVE THE WORLD Save paper when you are using them. Please put the waste paper into the blue recycling bucket rather than trash can.

Materials needed in class Planner: To write daily objectives and assignments Pencils and erasers: Must be sharpened before class. 3 Notebooks: For Mandarin, math and science. 3 Folders: To put graded papers, quizzes and tests in.

NO CELLPHONE, IPOD, IPAD AND OTHER SIMILAR TOOLS IN CLASS.
