Roles of a CNH Key Club Lieutenant Governor Lt. Governor Candidate Training Conference 2017 CNH Trainers

Lt. Governor Position Overview To serve as a liaison between district and club To organize club officer training (OTC, LTC) To organize member training within the region (RTC) To provide support and to encourage growth throughout the year To conduct division council meetings (DCMs) To serve on a district committee

Responsibilities vs. Duties In our case… Maintaining positive relationships with each level of membership Leadership in Key Club is our “responsibility” These responsibilities are met when a Lt. Governor does his/her “duty” So, let’s review the responsibilities!

Key Club Structure LTG The Puzzle MEMBERS OFFICERS REGION Every Piece = A Member Every piece is unique. Every piece has a purpose. Every piece is important. Different Levels of Membership Experience District Region – Division – Club International President – VP - Trustees MEMBERS LTG DISTRICT INTERNATIONAL MEMBERS

Your Responsibility to the MEMBERS Meet the members – know the people you serve. Get them involved! Offer “task coordinator” positions so they can assist and learn Recognize the members for their work Encourage leadership development and learning Promote opportunities Service events, leadership positions, etc. Promote the organization positively

Keep members interested in community service Pump up the spirit! Keep members interested in community service Provide service/fundraising opportunities Communicate with the members you serve Represent their opinions Always keep the members’ best interests in mind Be friendly and approachable for questions/concerns Remember…YOU serve the members.

Your Responsibility to CLUBS Work with club presidents to utilize committees, promote service projects and fundraisers Remind club secretaries to submit their Monthly Report Forms Encourage club treasurers to submit club annual membership dues early or on time Make visits to all of the clubs at least once Encourage clubs to actively recruit new members and reach service hour/membership goals.

Your Responsibility to the DIVISION Have at least 10 Division Council Meetings; preferably monthly Conduct an Officer Training Conference Host a Region Training Conference Encourage participation in service Fundraise for preferred charities such as PTP and the Eliminate Project

Attend Kiwanis DCMs as a Key Club liaison Provide updates from the International and District levels Represent the interests of members at District Board meetings Work with Region Advisors for orders/handling money Communicate consistently with members, Region Advisors, and other District officers

Appoint a leadership team (EA, DNE, etc.) Assign task coordinators to assist with events and specific tasks Registration, food, equipment, maps, etc. Creating spirit items, publicizing events, etc. Complete & submit a Monthly Report Form to report achievements of the clubs you serve and reflect on personal leadership development Hold a Conclave to elect the next Lt. Governor Assist with a smooth transition into the next term

Your Responsibility to the REGION Work with other Lt. Governors to conduct a Region Training Conference Communicate with Region Advisor Team frequently Support other District Board members Encourage others follow rules & procedures Collaborate on Region Ads Be a resource from your assigned committee to the entire region Become friends and travel together!

Your Responsibility to the DISTRICT Support your fellow District Board members Share ideas about how to improve each division and the District Attend 4 District Board Meetings & Trainings Complete committee work and attend all meetings Assist with committee training workshops Complete your reports and submissions on time Promote this organization positively both online and offline

Attend District Convention at the start & end of the term and encourage members to attend Attend training and BEE a part of it Promote the Kiwanis Family Promote District events and projects Follow policies and procedures Communicate with the Executive & Administrative team Send in submissions for the District newsletter

Your Responsibility to INTERNATIONAL Most Key Clubs don’t even realize that Key Club is international! Establish a connection with International Trustee Read updates from International to inform the members you serve Attend International Convention to represent the district and to elect the new International Board (optional but highly recommended)

Your Responsibilities in GENERAL Be ready to submit assignments before the final deadline – you’ll have lots of them. DON’T BE LATE. Delegate tasks to your assistants and task coordinators! Bond with your entire team to have a successful term. Information must be shared and work must be effectively delegated.

Be prepared to sacrifice time (and sometimes sleep!) for Key Club Work with different types of people BEE flexible to new ideas Stay enthusiastic and motivate the members throughout your term Keep your integrity and stay honest Help and serve the community!

Balance your time between academics, family, Key Club and other activities Key Club will not always be your first priority Be a role model to the members you serve Inspire others to lead and to serve their communities Serve the members to the best of your ability Leave a legacy, and inspire a new generation of Key Club

Keep that Key Club spirit ALIVE! Never lose your burning passion for Key Club and the community.
