Important Dates December 15: Iron County School District Career Fair December 21-January 1: Christmas break January 15: End of Quarter 2 January 18: MLK – No School February 15: President’s Day – No School February 1-5: Spring CCR week –EARLY OUT - NO LATE START March 1: ACT test March 7-11: Spring Break March 25: End of Quarter 3 May 24: Senior Awards Night/Freshmen Orientation May 27: Last Day of School September 28-October 2: Fall CCR Week –EARLY OUT - NO LATE START October 14: PSAT October 19-21: Fall Recess/Harvest Holiday October 13: End of Quarter 1 November 3: PLAN Test November 6: College Tour November 14: Sterling Scholar applications due November 16-20: College Application week November 25-27: Thanksgiving break December 1: Priority Deadline SUU and most colleges December 8: ASVAB test

Graduation Requirements

Failed Courses Make up with Teacher - $40 (quarter following when F was issued.) After School make up at SEA - $40 Electronic High School - Free BYU Independent Study - $$$ All make up credit for graduation must be completed by April 15th of your senior year to insure you will walk with your class. YOU are responsible for requesting the changes be made on your transcript

Diplomas Cedar High Diploma Cedar High Requirements 28 Credits Participate in the Cedar High Graduation Ceremony. Iron County Diploma Fulfill state requirements 24 Credits, Student cannot participate in Cedar High graduation ceremony, but may participate in the ceremony at the alternative high school, SEA.

Graduation Recognition Diploma Of Merit - awarded to students who have pursued a more in-depth program of study. Applications are due in February. Academic Medallion - a 3.8 cumulative GPA each year during high school will automatically qualify CTE Pathway Completer - More in depth program of study in the CTE programs. It will be awarded if requirements are completed.

Sterling Scholar Categories ¤If you are interested in the Sterling Scholar program, you need to start planning now. Taking rigorous classes, building your resume, improving your talent, and improving your test scores and GPA are all essential components. Business and Marketing Computer Technology Dance English Family and Consumer Sciences General Scholarship Mathematics Music Science Skilled & Technical Sciences Education Social Science Speech and Drama Visual Arts World Languages

Concurrent Enrollment Classes Beginning your Junior Year you may take Concurrent enrollment classes (College credits taken in high school). The exception being Mr. Thorley’s Woods classes, which can be taken for College credit as a Sophomore and the GPA requirement is 2.5. Academic courses require a 3.0 GPA. AP courses can be taken to earn college credit and add rigor to your curriculum. To earn the college credit the student must receive a minimum score. Individual colleges determine credit to be awarded

Regents Scholarship Regents Scholarship is awarded to student who take a more rigorous high school schedule. Student are required to take 4 credits of English, 4 years of progressive math, 3.5 Social Science, 3 credits of lab-based science (Biology , chemistry , and Physics), and 2 credit of progressive World language. Your student could receive two awarded amounts. Base Award (maximum value $1000 one-time payment) 3.0 high GPA No Grade below a “C” Take the Act Exemplary Academic Achievement Award(flat dollar amount, maximum value $1250 per semester for up to four semesters) 3.5 GPA No Grade below a “B” 26 Act

Utah Scholars Initiative The Utah Scholars Initiative is a high impact academic program intended to motivate students to complete a defined curriculum while in high school to better prepare them for college and future employment. We focus on helping students understand the academic preparation needed to succeed in postsecondary education and the workforce. 4 credits of English 4 years of progressive math 3.5 Social Science 3 credits of lab-based science( one Biology , chemistry , and Physics) 2 credit of progressive World language. NCAA Eligibility Center If you are thinking about participating in athletics in college, you need to register with the NCAA Clearinghouse at www.eligibilitycenter.org. NCAA requires more academic classes than are required for graduation.
