PROGRAM ADMINISTRATION The Squires are an international fraternity of approximately 25,000 Catholic young men, ages 10 to 18, in over 1,400 circles worldwide administered by: SUPREME COUNCIL Board of Directors – Knights of Columbus STATE COUNCIL State Squires Committee – Agent of the State Deputy Knights of Columbus INTERNATIONAL Organizational Level Support at International Functions 11/20/2018

RECENT PROGRAM CHANGES In 2017, Supreme issued a ruling that no new Circles would be created. In 2017 , Council 4101 applied for suspension of it’s Circle owing to this action in hopes that suspension will save our Circle from being declared “Dissolved” by Supreme. As of Jan 02, 2018, our advocate for us in the Texas State Squires Office has notified our Circle’s Chief Counselor that Supreme is willing to allow us to restore our Circle to “Active” status. Later in this presentation a discussion on what put our Circle on target to be suspended and what we need to do to prevent this happening again in the future 11/20/2018

LESSONS ON OUR PAST CIRCLE Meetings DATES and TIMES Best to establish this based on an introductory meeting as parents will mostly be involved in driving for No. 1. i.e. : 1 Saturday / month– early afternoon for 1 ½ hr for starts Past CIRCLE operations went pretty smooth so current Chief Counselor will “Kick Start” CIRCLE reactivation Look at making Chief Counselor part of yearly rotation and possibly part of yearly officer installation 11/20/2018

CIRCLE SURVIVAL To prevent future possibilities of the Circle loosing its membership with Supreme the following must be addressed: #1 Membership – maintain a minimum of 10 members #2 Counselors – in addition to the Chief Counselor, maintain a 1:10 ratio of counselors to members #3 Appoint new Chief and Circle counselor with each Council election cycle. 11/20/2018

Membership Dues - $ TDB yr Fund raisers, etc. CHURCH SUPPORT CIRCLE is: Self-Reliant and therefore needs little or no assistance from the parish except with administration support with meetings. Self funding with initial funding coming from sponsoring council but on a very limited basis and in case of emergency funding as well. sources of revenue – Membership Dues - $ TDB yr Fund raisers, etc. 11/20/2018

Council members are encouraged to attend Circle meetings. SPONSORING COUNCIL SUPPORT Circle relations Council members are encouraged to attend Circle meetings. Joint activities – aside from school/circle , council/circle encouraged as well Counselor Staff Training of counselor staff by Council Chief Counselor and available 24/7 when needed by the Circle . Will have dual training in “CHILD SAFE” certified by the Supreme Council and also the Diocesan required training. Minimum 2 rule will apply at all events , including meetings. Circle Officers Proper Training in Parliamentary Procedure Leadership Training Counselors will monitor the Circle Officers performance and develop their opinions without undue interference. 11/20/2018

BENEFITS School- Parish - Sponsoring Council - Community - support of an organization within it’s various activities i.e. , sporting events, hall events, fund raisers, etc. Also see an organization that helps the character of the school and as well provide skills to impart on students to further their educational development and social character. 11/20/2018

WRAP UP – Reactivation of CIRCLE will become church based Church and Council will have jurisdiction over meeting schedules, location, activities with the right for final approval reserved to Fr. Holguin, Pastor. Church support will be first priority of the CIRCLE All KofC Council members will be encouraged to attend meetings especially the Circle Counselors. Any other issues….
