It is clear that water and water management are going to be critical in the 21st Century, and with many legal and international frameworks relating to water, there is a clear need for individuals with such skills to deliver and manage this resource.

MSc in Advanced Sustainability of the Built Environment Architecture MSc in Advanced Sustainability of the Built Environment This unique multi-disciplinary programme is designed to provide a holistic knowledge of the sustainable built environment It takes a holistic approach to issues surrounding the sustainability of the built environment covering topics from Urban Planning to Environmental Design. Taught by academics and practitioners in sustainable buildings and urban development, demonstrating sustainability on a national and international level. This will be in reference to landscape urbanism, urban microclimate, climate change, sustainable material, and urban layout in an international context. Studying in the University of Dundee Studying in Dundee EUC students enjoy the facilities common to the University – a campus which combines the historic, like the listed Geddes Quadrangle, with the very new – the library is even now being extended. There is a lively student life based around the Dundee University Students Association, and EUC students are keen participants in the events organised by Town & Regional Planning’s own student society, Spad. 11

Why Dundee? Dundee itself provides a good base in which to study urban conservation. The city has a rich history as a port and textile town, and faces the common urban problems of reconciling a care for the past with concern for the future. The surrounding area is rich in opportunities for on-site case studies, and there are good links with other historic towns and cities such as Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Stirling, Arbroath, Perth, Linlithgow…………..in fact, from archaeological sites to historic gardens, good examples of all the subject material of the taught modules can be found in and around Dundee. Published in 1890 the book is a supurb record of the legacy left over from the period when Dundee was Scotland’s second city. Many of the buildings have been lost but far more original fabric remains than most people realise. 12
