Its chief objective is to give you the academic credentials you need to improve your chances of being promoted to more senior posts. 11 Entry Requirements MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice (Standard, Critical Care, Midwifery, Children & Young People pathways) entry requirements are: A first degree (2:2 class or above) or equivalent in a relevant subject from an approved institution of higher education. A current professional registration with a relevant professional statutory body or equivalent and a current or recent relevant job contract in a clinical or clinically related area At least two years relevant post registration clinical experience (for critical care, midwifery and children & young people pathways the experience needs to be within those fields of practice) At least one satisfactory reference (on some occasions a second reference will be required) 11

12 Standard Pathway/Core Modules: Basic structure on which all pathways are built Research Methods for Evidence Based Practice Level 7 - 10 ECTS Diagnostic Assessment and Decision Making OR Decision Making for Advanced Clinical Practice Level 7 - 10 ECTS Transition to Advanced Practice Level 7 - 10 ECTS Option module* Level 6** or 7 - 10 ECTS Option module* Level 6** or 7 - 10 ECTS Option module* Level 6** or 7 - 10 ECTS Dissertation – 30 ECTS *Two of the three options must be clinically focused. **One of the three option modules can be at level 6.

15 PG Diploma in Specialist Community Public health Nursing (SCPHN)must be … a qualified Nurse or Midwife on part(s) 1 or 2 of the NMC register Leads to registration on part 3 of the NMC register (on completion of the programme) As one of the following annotations –Health visitor –School nurse –Occupation Health Nurse –*** 15
