Servant Leadership

The great leader is seen as servant first The great leader is seen as servant first. It begins with the natural feeling that one wants to serve. Then, conscious choice brings one to aspire to lead. The best test is: Do those served grow as persons; do they, while being served, become healthier, wiser, freer, more autonomous, more likely themselves to become servants?

How would a servant leader use power and authority different from a “traditional” leader?

How will you go out ahead and show the way in your district?

What do you think? Listening or hearing? Empathy or sympathy? Persuasion or coercion? Foresight or prediction?

How well are the Ten Characteristics practiced? Rate your District How well are the Ten Characteristics practiced?

Be the Example How do Exchange Clubs exemplify the characteristics beyond the club? To members, sponsors, community?

Rate your Servant Leader characteristics: I don’t believe this is an important characteristic of leadership. I don’t exhibit or practice this characteristic now, but plan to begin. I exhibit or try to practice this characteristic now, but not as much as I would like. I exhibit and practice this characteristic now, consciously and consistently.

Ten Characteristics Listening Empathy Healing Awareness Persuasion Conceptualization Foresight Stewardship Commitment to the growth of people Building community
