Imperialism Imperialism is when one nation controls the economy & government of another nation. Industrialism was the primary reason for imperialism. Industrial countries needed more raw materials and new markets to sell their finished products too.

PLACES INVOLVED ENGLAND the U.S.A. other European Countries and then eventually Japan became key imperial powers ! The Asian and African continents became the most sought after areas to Colonize ! This race created competition between European powers like ENGLAND, FRANCE, GERMANY

SOCIAL IMPACT The IDEA of SOCIAL DARWINISM –>> JUSTIFIED IMPERIALISM . Charles Darwin came up with the theory of EVOLUTION . One of his final hypothesis was that Caucasians were at the at the top of the evolution tree! SUPPORTERS OF THE THEORY OF EVOLUTION believed that Caucasian humans have….. # 1 A DUTY and #2 A RIGHT to take advantage of non-Caucasian people and other weak Caucasian nations.

WHITE MANS BURDEN English Author Rudyard Kipling wrote ‘The White Man’s Burden’ The book was filled with support for EVOLUTION and the idea of a ranking system for humans Kipling believed It was the duty of Western Nations (Europe & USA) to take their superior culture to weak nations
