This orientation will familiarize you with some basic operations of WebStudy. Before your course activates, we will go over some of the basic tools that WebStudy provides. Summer 2006 online course do not begin until May 15.

Go to and click on WebStudy Login Portal under Link. How to Login

For your user name type in your JID number which is on your registration form. For password type in the word password. If you would change your password you are responsible to remember. JID Number password User Name and Password

Once you are logged in you can select your course from the drop down box as shown below. After selecting your course you should be in your online classroom. Selecting Course

Familiarize yourself with different Tabs on the WebStudy. Tabs are located on the right side of the page. Depending on your instructor, your course may have fewer Tabs. Tabs

These are some of the different Tabs which are available on WebStudy. Click on Timeline to get started. Timeline Tab will have all the basic information about the course. Functions of Tab Timeline – This Tab will provide General overview of a course schedule and sequence. This is an interactive course syllabus with links to various course elements; a good starting point. About – This Tab will provide general information about the course and your instructor. Material – If any material will be required or supplemental material your instructor will have it available in this area. Work2Do – This Tab is to check your Class assignments. Grade – This area is online grade book.

Functions of Tab Links – This Tab will have all the course- related web sites. Live – This area is for real-time discussion. (Depending on your instructor) Forum – This Tab is used for class discussions. News – This Tab will give you the announcements from your instructor. Team – This area is for students to work together in groups. Student – This Tab will give you the access to your classmates. You can also share presentations and information with each other. Test – Depending on your instructor, in this Tab you will see practice quizzes and graded exams from your instructor. Depending on your instructor, your course may have fewer Tabs.

Click the Personal icon at top to display your "About you" tab information sheet. Change your password and add any other information you wish. (We recommend student dont change their password) Enter a valid external (non-WebStudy) address. If you do not provide a valid external address, you will not receive timely assistance from WebStudy Technical Support. Click "Post It" to save your changes. Use a password that you can easily remember and provide a hint. Write it down and remember it. Whatever you change it to remains for future semesters. To Change Your Personal Information and Password

WebStudy gives you the option to your classmates, instructor, distance education administrator and also to WebStudy tech support. To Compose & Send WebStudy Mail 1. Click the Mail icon at the top. 2. Click the Compose Tab 3. Select recipient from class list. 4. Fill in subject and content areas. 5. Optionally add attachments (click attachment button and follow directions). 6. Select "No, send immediately" if you do not want to save message to complete and send later. 7. Click "Post It". To Reply to Mail 1. Scroll down below the message; optionally edit subject line. 2. Type your reply in larger text area. 3. Select "No, send immediately" if you do not want to save message to complete and send later. 4. Click "Post It". To Read WebStudy Mail 1. Click the Mail icon at the top. 2. Click subject to read any mail on the list. Mail Options

How to Submit your Assignments Method #1. Text area 1.Type your content in the text area in the lower half of your screen. Or 2.Copy and paste from an open application. Recommendation: copy into WordPad first, then Copy and Paste from WordPad. 3. Select "Send To Instructor" if your work is complete. 4.Click "Post It". Method #2. Upload file 1. Create your assignment in Word or appropriate application. Save in RTF format (how do I do that?) so that your instructor can open and grade your work.how do I do that? 2. Click the "Browse" button. 3. Locate and select your assignment file. 4. Click "Open" in dialogue box. 5. Select "Send To Instructor" if your work is complete. 6. Click"Post It".

Taking Online Exams Be sure you alert others not to interrupt you. Click on the Exam link in the timeline. Click on the button that says I Agree to Take This Exam Once you click it, you must complete exam. Select correct answers by clicking. Be careful with scroll mouse. Scroll wheel may change your answer if you do not click outside question area after picking answer. Review all responses before clicking SUBMIT button. Any essay questions will have to be reviewed manually by your instructor and will be graded later. TIP for AOL users. AOL tends to disconnect students. Suggest first going into commerce area; starts to buy a cheap product. Then take test in another Window. Return to purchase an cancel it. AOL seems to not disconnect when you are buying something.
