Additional Considerations When selecting elective courses, students should select more than the required number of credits. Please note that courses may not be offered due to low student interest or the unavailability of a highly qualified teacher. Additionally, some courses will only be offered on an every-other-year rotating basis. NCAA – must consider a minimum of high school courses approved by the College Board (see counselor for more information).

AP/Honors Benefits include- Course weighting Standing out in the college admissions process Building skills for college (AP only) Potentially earning college credit for high school coursework (AP only) Bypassing introductory classes at college

Input into Course Selections Teacher Recommendations Test Scores Goals, Interests and Abilities Feedback received from trusted sources

Scheduling Timeline Scheduling Portal is currently open Requests due by 20 February 2018 Late Spring – 8th Grade Tours/Orientation Schedules will be distributed via mail mid-August Open House – week prior to school starting

Changes in Schedules Changes will be made only under the most extenuating circumstances. These include: Incomplete schedule Course conflicts Academically misplaced

If there is an extenuating circumstance: Student requests must be made within the first five (5) days of the course. If the request is granted, the record of the course will not be reflected on the transcript. Any requests granted after the five day period will be reflected on the student’s transcript. If the student is passing the course at the time of withdraw, they will receive a “Withdraw Pass” on their transcript. If the student is failing the course at the time of withdraw, they will receive a “Withdraw Fail” on their transcript.
