Science Units No state exam! Survival –ecosystems and photosynthesis Motion and Space Electromagnetism Energy No state exam! Study guides will be provided for each unit test DARE 10 week program Use Teacher Website to check for upcoming assignments, testing dates, and/or copy of class materials etc.

ELA Students are expected to read 30 minutes daily outside of class Vocabulary collection in notebook Common core is requiring more rigorous, in-depth analysis of reading Writing will also take place across content areas Teacher website calendar

Elementary School vs. Middle School Classes are large Students have over six different teachers on a daily basis. Materials/belongings should always be kept in lockers. Homeroom teachers will not see your child after first block Emergency messages go through the office. Emails are usually answered within 24 hours. Content-area questions, contact appropriate teacher. All other questions please contact Mrs. Canaple (guidance counselor) or the main office.

Agenda It is the students’ responsibility to fill in their agenda daily. Students who are chronically unprepared may be asked to stay afterschool for detention, at the teacher’s discretion. Notification will be given to the parents and child to set up a day when the student can stay for detention with the teacher. Teacher web pages are available to find homework assignments and additional information. Please check your child’s agenda NIGHTLY.

Report cards Report cards are accessed on Parent Portal No paper copies unless a request is made 10 week quarters: November, January , March and June Number grades based on percentages If you need to create an account, contact Mrs. Canaple at 677-3539 for support.

Parent Conferences Communication is a key to success- If you have questions please contact the appropriate teacher. We will contact you if we need to meet with you about your child. There are no sign-ups for parent conferences. If necessary, we will meet with you as a team. If at any time you need to meet with the team, please contact your child’s guidance counselor, Mrs. Canaple.
