Desiree Gumm Teaching for 6 years in the Meridian School District Currently teaching 6 th grade at Eagle Middle School Over the past 5 years I have used 3 different websites to support my classroom teaching. Today we are going to focus on the options for a classroom website, what kinds of things you can use on the site, the difference it can make in the classroom, and a closer look at what each site has to offer.

Students without a class website Students with a website

Information is available to students and parents at home. Holds students and parents accountable for class work and homework. Students can miss several days of school and still keep up with school work with minimal additional work to the teacher. A system of checks and balances for students. Additional copies of work can be acquired without additional copying from the teacher. Collaboration tool--- Steal Point

Additional upfront work for the teacher. Another place where you have to write down your plans. Learning new technology can be time consuming. Students doing the work ahead of time, not in class.

Calendar with assignments attached to the day that is was taught. Document section dedicated to assignments that stay up all year, frequent use.
