Presentation transcript:

Whole school homework projects Change to our approach to homework following children and parent feedback. Homework will be child-led but where possible should be supported by an adult. All children are expected to complete the task to the very best of their abilities. Homework quality and effort should reflect the length of time they have been allocated (a half-term/5 or 6 weeks). The focus will be on critical thinking and problem solving skills. All children will be given 1 project per half-term. Completed homework can be handed in at any point during the half-term.

The problem… Homework will begin with a problem e.g. There is too much waste in the world, can you upcycle something which you were going to throw away and turn it into something useful?

Stage 1 - Ideas This is the brainstorming stage where you come up with lots of ideas and research methods. You must create a sheet of drawings, photos etc. to record your ideas. Pick your favourite to carry forward to the next stage.

Stage 2 - Problem solving This is the ‘doing’ stage where you create a solution to solving the problem. You can be as creative as you like. You may need to overcome obstacles which get in your way. You may need to alter your design if needed.

Stage 3 – Critical thinking Review your solution. On a piece of paper let us know: What went well?(WWW) What were you pleased with? Why? What do you like best? Why? What did you enjoy doing the most ? Even better if… (EBI) What didn’t work as planned? Why? What would you do differently or change? Why?
