HIGH SCHOOL 101 For 9th Grade Parents October 18, 2017 Welcome to a New Chapter in Your Child’s Life Vanessa Teachers change year to year, the one constant variable is your child’s school counselor. We will be with them all four years. It’s like a 4 year road trip and your child’s school counselor is your personal travel agent the entire time.

Make sure to know which house your child is in when calling the school. On page 3 of the handout, there is contact information for all of the counselors.

Naviance Electronic-based data gathering is both efficient and appealing to the high school student. We like to call it their electronic filing cabinet Danielle Freshmen will be introduced to Naviance by the end of the year utilizing Career Cluster. Parents will receive a Naviance account sometime second semester. Page 7 of the handout shows the log in screen for Naviance

REQUIREMENTS FOR GRADUATION   To graduate from the Fairfield Public Schools a student must earn a minimum of 43 credits and meet the credit distribution requirement. A student must also demonstrate the designated computer applications proficiency. CREDIT REQUIREMENTS FOR GRADUATION To meet the minimum requirements for a high school diploma, a student must earn 43 credits and achieve the following credit distribution: English 8 credits Math 6 credits Science 6 credits Social Studies (US History, Civics) 7 credits Physical Education & Health 4 years Arts/Vocational 2 credits Allison You can find this information on page 9 of the handout

Allison Final grade is the ONLY grade that goes on transcript No attendance or behavior Having one bad test will not define your life This transcript is on page 10 of the handout followed by the marking period/report card schedule
