7 TN Graduation Requirements
Earn a total of 225 credits Pass specific subject requirements English: 40 credits (4 years) History/Social Science: 30 credits (3 years) Math: 30 credits (3 years) Laboratory Science: 20 credits (2 years) Fine Art or Language Other Than English: 10 credits (1 year) Career Technical Education (CTE): 10 credits (1 year) Physical Education: 20 credits (2 years) Health: 5 credits (1 semester) Electives: 60 credits

8 Credits & Grading Students may earn 5 credits per class each semester for a total of 30 credits per semester or 60 credits per year Progress reports every six weeks Grading is cumulative Credits and final grades are earned at semester’s end

9 Freshman Grades Count! Colleges verify that 9th grade CP classes are passed with at least a “C” grade Recommendations for classes in future/advanced courses are dependent on grades in 9th grade prerequisite classes GPA for honors at graduation is cumulative GPA is used for California Scholarship Federation

10 Student-Athletes TN eligibility: 2.0 minimum GPA
Six-week eligibility periods (progress report grades) NCAA eligibility: must register if planning on competing at a Division I or Division II college: Fee: $75 Fee waivers available to students on the subsidized lunch program; please see Counselor Contact prospective college to ensure you’re on track

13 UC/CSU Eligibility Requirements (“a-g”)
History/Social Science – 2 years English – 4 years Math – 3 years* (Math Course 1, Math Course 2, Math Course 3) Lab Science – 2 years* (1 year life & 1 year physical) Language Other Than English – 2 years* (same language) Visual & Performing Arts – 1 year College Prep Elective – 1 year *additional years of subject recommended Must earn a “C” grade or better both semesters

14 Am I Eligible for UC/CSU?
Minimum of 15 yearlong “a-g” courses in grades 9-12 Seven of these courses must be taken in the last two years of high school Minimum GPA of 3.0 in “a-g” coursework UC/CSU GPA calculation begins in 10th grade SAT Reasoning Test with Writing or ACT with Writing While SAT/ACT test scores are not required to establish the admission eligibility of California residents with high school GPAs of 3.00 or above (nonresidents 3.61 or above), impacted campuses and impacted first-time freshmen enrollment categories often include test scores among the supplemental criteria required of all applicants to those campuses and enrollment categories.
