4 Graduation Requirements _ 4 units of English and Social Studies _ 3 units of Math and Science _ 2 units of Physical Education (1/2 unit each year) _ Health (1/2 unit) _ Foreign Language (minimum 1 unit) _ Career & Financial Management (1/2 unit) _ Art/Music course (1 unit) _ Total 22.0 Credits _ Minimum of 6.5 credits each year _ Minimum of 65 on each Regents exam

5 Types of Diplomas  Regents Diploma  Regents Exams in:  Algebra  English  Global  US History  Science  Regents with Advanced Designation  Regents Exams in:  Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry/Algebra II  English  Global  US History  2 Science  Foreign Language With Honors: Average of 90+on all exams. Average cannot be rounded up.

6 Academic Support Services Academic Intervention Services (AIS) Some students are placed based on 8 th grade assessment scores After school help with teachers (2-2:40pm) Peer Tutoring Parent/Teacher Conferences Regents Review Classes

7 Program Planning  Annual Review  Present academic review  Graduation requirements  Four year plan/career and/or college choices  Students are scheduled based on recommendations from:  Teachers  Parents  Counselors

8 9th Grade  Counselors will meet with all 9th grade students for a brief orientation of Student Services.  Career Development Program  CHOICES  Academy Night  Information Technology  Finance  Project Lead the Way  Education  Visual Arts  Program Planning

9 10th Grade  PSAT (Enriched English students only)  PLAN (practice ACT exam)  Potter Road Orientation  Program Planning  College Planning Night

10 11th Grade  PSAT/SAT/ACT  Junior Orientation  College Prep  Informational Packets distributed  College Information Night  National College Fair  Program Planning

11 12th Grade  Senior Orientation  College Application Process  Senior Interview  College Fairs  Western New York College Fair  Rochester Area College Fair  Scholarships  SAT/ACT  Senior Parent Night  Financial Aid Night

12 Preparing for College  Colleges look for “Well-Rounded” students who:  do well academically  take challenging courses (AP courses)  are involved in extra-curricular activities  participate in community service  score well on standardized tests (SAT/ACT)

13 Class Rank/ Grade Point Average (GPA) _ Rank in class is determined in senior year based on your overall GPA _ GPA includes grades from 9th, 10th, and 11 th grade _ AP courses are weighted 1.05 for class rank purposes
