Required Materials for Class 3- Ring binder with loose-leaf paper (1 inch), 3 tabs for do nows, notes, and classwork/homework Pencil case Pens/Pencils Folder to bring homework to and from class School agenda for recording homework assignments

Grading for Each Marking Period Product: Homework, Labs, Projects - 33% Tests, Quizzes - 33% Classwork: - 34% Written class work, Group work and Individual work Assignments and tests are scored by using total points.

I am available for After-Hours on Tuesdays For Extra Help… I am available for After-Hours on Tuesdays from 2:35-3:20 pm. Any help needed with: -Comprehension of content -Clarification of content -Organization of materials -Makeup work -Labs

Science Course Description This course is designed to teach students to approach science as critical thinkers. Skill development includes: Making observations/inferences Evaluation of data Designing/conducting experiments Weighing of evidence Developing scientific arguments Designing and testing of scientific models

Science Course Description- Content will be taught through experiments and hands-on activities so that their learning is a process of discovery. Course is designed around the Next Generation Science Standards. It will be a hybrid model.

Topics taught in 7th grade include: Process Skills used in Scientific Inquiry Evidence & Modeling Cells Structure & Function Genetics Natural Selection/Evolution Ecology Human Impact The NextGen Science Standards covered in 7th grade can be found at: http://www.nextgenscience.org/search-standards

Cooperative Classroom Encourages students to collaborate with each other and rely less on the teacher. Meet new friends Class runs like a well-oiled machine Establishes responsibility with team jobs Wastes less time in class Get to do fun activities!

Motivation = Raffle Tickets! Students receive raffle tickets for completing their Do Now, writing down their homework, extra participation or being team of the day! Students can use their raffle tickets for monthly prizes or weekly prizes which are little gifts, or utilize them for Knights tokens to use in raffles or the student store.

What does it mean? We need to give/refine students’ ability to create models and ideas when given data. Students need to be problem solvers and feel comfortable expressing their opinions even if they are thinking outside the box.
