1 Welcome to Meet the Teacher and Curriculum Night!
Danielle Owen Pre-Algebra and Compact Math 7b/8

2 About Me Fifth year teaching (3rd in Kyrene)
Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education Highly Qualified in Middle Grades Mathematics and Elementary 1-8 Live in Ahwatukee with my husband, 2 stepchildren, and dog named Daisy Enjoy sports, traveling, reading, being active, and cooking in my spare time

3 Expectations Students are on time.
Students come to class with homework completed. Students participate in class discussions and ask questions. Student behavior does not interfere with learning.

4 Math Resource Carnegie Learning
Cooperative based learning with a computer component (can be accessed from home) Students will have a consumable workbook to take notes and complete practice problems Homework will be assigned from workbook or will be a worksheet

5 PRIDE Hour Every week, each student will have their Core classes 6 times. 4th period is PRIDE hour on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays This bonus class is an ideal time for review, reteaching, and enrichment. However, there are times where new content may be presented.

7 Homework Policy Assigned daily Due the next day unless specified
NO late work accepted About 30 focused minutes to complete Posted on board and website 5 points per assignment If possible, time will be given at end of class to start assignment

8 Assessment Re-takes Not Required; Student’s responsibility to schedule a time during my office hours to retake. Student will have 1 week from the time the assessment is handed back to retake it. The better of the 2 grades will be recorded.

9 Grading Scale A = 90% and up B = 80% and up C = 70% and up
D = 60% and up F = Below 60% 80% of grade = Assessments 20% of grade = Practice

10 Absences Student’s responsibility to obtain the information and assignments they missed For each day absent, the student has one excused day to complete homework and assignments for full credit Please let me know if student will be absent ahead of time

11 Materials One binder (one and one-half inch) Five dividers
Loose leaf lined paper Pencils with erasers Red pen Highlighter Suggested: ruler and scientific calculator

12 Class Wish List Kleenex Clorox wipes Dry erase markers Red pens
Pencils and erasers Post-it notes Crayons, Markers, Colored pencils Copy paper Loose leaf lined paper Ziploc baggies (gallon, quart, sandwich)

13 Website Homework is posted daily Assessments are announced
Assessment reviews with answer keys are posted

14 Parent Role Please encourage your child to keep trying
Stay on top of behavior and grades Check assignment calendar regularly Take an interest in their homework Help them study Attendance is extremely important! Everyday is something new and different from anything they have ever seen before Encourage your child to come in for extra help and to ask questions

16 Allergy Reminder Due to a severe tree nut allergy, no food will be allowed to be eaten in the classroom.
