Welcome to 7th Heaven!

Welcome & Introductions

Cell phones must be turned off between 7:45-3:00 Morning Arrival The school doors will not be unlocked until 7:20 each morning. Students that arrive before 7:20 will be unsupervised. Students will sit in the hallway in front of their homeroom until 7:45 each morning. Students have the opportunity or will be required to attend an early morning tutoring session Monday- Thursday mornings. Cell phones must be turned off between 7:45-3:00

End Of The Day Procedures Students will be dismissed from homeroom in the following order: Palmetto’s Finest car riders will be dismissed first. Then car riders picked up in the car circle are dismissed. Next walkers and other car riders are dismissed. Bus riders will be dismissed as their bus arrives.

Silent Sustained Reading (SSR) A school wide reading program will be held 10 minutes before and 10 minutes after lunch. During this time, students and teachers will be required to read. Students should come prepared to read a library book, novel for ELA, etc. (iPad’s are excluded during SSR) You will not be allowed to leave the room during this time. A scheduled restroom break will follow after SSR.

Lockers Lockers will be assigned on the first day of school. Students will be allowed to go their locker before homeroom and at the end of the day as they are dismissed. Students are responsible for bringing all necessary materials to class.

Forms All forms must be filled out on registration day.

Tdap Vaccine According to DHEC: One dose of Tdap vaccine (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertusis) will be required for all seventh graders. After the first 30 days of school, if student does not have the vaccine the student will be suspended. Shot Record or Exemption from DHEC must be on file.

iPad Distribution Students will be reissued the iPad at the beginning of the school year. All fees MUST be paid prior to reissue date. It is suggested that you pay all fees on registration day.

Standards Based Grading What is Standards Based Grading? Our grade book entries reflect the progress students are making towards mastery of standards within a subject through the use of formative and summative assessments. Students will only have 10 days to second chance summative assessments. The student will receive the last grade on the test taken. CODE EXPLANATION 1 Work Inadequate or Not Submitted 2 Insufficient Progress 3 Progressing 4 Meets Standards

Students can also access their grades through parent portal. Parents may request a password to access the Parent Portal on the district website. This gives the parent the ability to check on their child’s progress throughout the nine weeks. Students can also access their grades through parent portal.

7th Grade REMIND

Schedules, Agendas and Assignments Teachers.io / Myhomework This is an iPad Application that the students use to keep up with their current schedule and upcoming assignments, homework and assessments. Each content area teacher will upload actual assignments/lessons into the system. Helps with students who are absent. Parents who want to review lessons with their child at home.
