Baptism One of the seven sacraments, it is the first and most necessary as it removes original sin and all sins committed to that point It gives us the life of sanctifying grace in our soul Makes us children of God and members of the Church Symbol-water Ordinary minister-priest or deacon Words (form) of the sacrament-”I baptize you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit Matter (material) –water It is one of the Sacraments of initiation (Baptism, Holy Eucharist and Confirmation)

Benediction A blessing given by God in the Monstrance The priest or deacon elevates the Blessed Sacrament in the Monstrance and imparts God’s blessing

Bible The inspired Word of God God, working with human authors, reveals himself and his plan for our salvation It is divided into two parts-the Old Testament and the New Testament

Blessed Sacrament The Eucharistic presence of God: body, blood, soul and divinity that is reserved in the Tabernacle, which should be located in a worthy place in the Church

Charity A supernatural gift from God, imprinted on one’s soul at baptism It enables us to love God above all things and to love our neighbor out of love for God (it helps us live the two great commandments!)

Cheerfulness The virtue by which a person lifts the spirit/s of others by encouraging them, or bringing them comfort. A great way to practice this virtue is the apostolate of the smile
