2 Purpose of Sacraments To sanctify men and women To build up the Body of Christ To give worship to God

3 Signs of the sacraments Celebration of the sacraments is accomplished through the power of God. Power of Christ and his Spirit act in and through the actions of the sacraments Fruit of the sacraments depends on the disposition of the one receiving it

4 Baptism is the sacrament by which we are reborn into new life in Christ. The sacrament in which we are joined to Jesus Christ, become members of the Church, and are reborn as God’s children. We receive the gift of the Holy Spirit, and original sin and our personal sins are forgiven.

6 Confirmation is the sacrament that strengthens the grace of Baptism and that celebrates the special gift of the Holy Spirit

8 Eucharist is the sacrament in which we share in the Paschal Mystery of Christ and receive the Body and Blood of Christ, who is truly present under the appearances of bread and wine.

10 Reconciliation is the sacrament through which we receive forgiveness of sins by the sincere confessing of our sins to a priest to whom the power to forgive sins has been given

12 Anointing of the Sick is a sacrament that confers the grace of strengthening our faith and trust in God when we are seriously ill.

14 Holy Orders is the sacrament of the Church that consecrates baptized men as bishops, priests, or deacons to serve the whole Church in the name and person of Christ by teaching, divine worship, and governing the Church as Jesus did.
