Salary Ranges Between $44,163 - $77,462 A Mechanical Engineer makes anywhere from $59,277 - $98,995

Education Requirements Students need a minimum of 382 units to complete the B.S. degree The minimum requirements for becoming an engineer consist of a bachelor’s degree from a university accredited engineering program.

Skills and Abilities Needed These programs, which usually include various hands-on laboratory classes that focus on current issues in the application of engineering principles, prepare students for practical design and production work, rather than for jobs that require more theoretical and scientific knowledge Admissions requirements for undergraduate engineering schools include a solid background in mathematics (algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and calculus) and science (biology, chemistry, and physics), with courses in English, social studies, and humanities.

Tasks and Duties Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.

Steps Needed To Be An Engineer Study mathematics, science, and computer in high school. Participate in math contests and science fairs. Take stuff apart. Explore the field of electronics, which may include activities such as ham radio and computer repair. Develop solid written communication skills. Take drafting classes. Take an interest in manufacturing. Develop your creativity Do not give up!

Interesting Facts about engineering The snowboard was invented by an engineer? Engineers design running shoes for protection, performance, and comfort? A civil engineer created the slippery part of the water slide? The launch and return of spacecraft, from the Apollo to the Shuttle, is a monumental engineering triumph? The Ferris Wheel is considered one of the greatest engineering wonders in the world? Engineers make interactive television possible?

What I Learned About Engineering I didn’t learn that much about engineering because I already knew a lot of stuff about it. I had already been researching stuff about it because its what I want to major in in college. I learned the average amount they make in a yearly salary, I already knew they made a lot of money but I didn’t know the price range. I knew what steps to take and that there are many things to do while in high school to prepare yourself for engineering in college.
