Kindergarten Weekly News December 16, 2016 Math This week we continued on with Chapter 5: Addition. We practiced many different ways to add sets of numbers to make many different sums. We even worked on starfall with addition sentences and word problems too. We will have our test on addition overall next week on Tuesday, December 20th. All tests will come home in the new year for you to sign Thanks so much for your understanding with this matter.  Language Arts This week we started our Unit 4 about Who is in our Neighborhood? We are learning about who are the people in our neighborhood and what tools do they use to help them with their job!  We read a story called Whose Shoes? this week and have been learning about adjectives and using many different types of describing words (adjectives) with our classroom sentence writing. Have fun using many different types of adjectives at home too. EX: color words, shape words, size words, number words, emotion words, etc. Evergreen Tree Project We had so much fun making our little trees!! Thank you so much to all of you for helping with all of the supplies and donations that were needed to make this such a wonderful success! We had a lot of fun with our second grade buddies too!  We are “TREELY” Grateful! Alphabet Fun This week we have learned all about the letter Oo and its sound. Please continue to work on words that have this sound in the beginning and the middle. Keep working on the difference between long and short vowel sounds at this time. Keep practicing writing sentences overall…using a capital letter, spaces, and punctuation marks at the end. Please work on reading and writing sight words overall too. Our new word this week is YOU. Next week new charts will be added to your child’s light blue sight word reading booklet. Please be sure that it is in your child’s backpack on Monday so that new charts may be added at this time. Thanks so much for your continued support with your child’s reading progress!  Gift Making Day/Pajama Day We will have our Gift Making Day on Wednesday, December 21st ! This is when the kiddos get to make little gifts to give to their families during the winter holidays. We greatly appreciate all of your continued support on sending in the supplies for our special days… you are all awesome!  Each child can pay $1 to donate to the Girls’ on the run Angel Fund and then each kiddo can wear his/her PJ’s to school on this day too. No Slippers please Reminders Monday, Dec. 19th ~Alphabet folders will go home; math review homework sheet will go home Tuesday, Dec. 20th ~ Math test on Chapter 5 Addition Wednesday, Dec. 21st ~ Pajama Day and Gift making day Thursday, Dec. 22nd ~ Alphabet folders are due!
