History Of West Loop The great Chicago fire took place in the West Loop. The Chicago fire was a disastrous thing that happened in Chicago, it lasted a total of three days. The Hull House was built in the West loop by Jane Addams and Ellen Gates Starr. The house was for new immigrants to help and aid them. The West Loop was founded between 1850’s-1860-s. It is located on the Chicago’s west side, Located by the Eisenhower Expy on south, Lake street (200 N) on the North, from the Kennedy Expy.

History Part 2 During the 1800’s many less fortunate immigrants moved to the West loop. Many ethnic groups left their in the west loop by building a variety of churches which lead to many ethnic and religious rivalries. During the civil war in 1861 the west loop had some of Chicago’s most fashionable homes and prominent institutions. In 1866 was the scene of bitter labor strikes and conflicts. By the turn of the century, late 1800’s became one of the most densely populated districts of the whole Chicago.

Places The Hull House is still standing in the West loop and it remains open as a museum. For those who want to go to college in Chicago, the University Of Illinois a.k.a UIC is the neighborhood area for the college campus. Also cultural villages such as Greek town and Little Italy are neighborhoods in the West Loop. The United Center is also located in the West Loop just in case you want to see Chicago sports teams such as the Bulls and Blackhawks play. Home of the Chicago team.

Present Day The population size for the west loop is 5,942 people. In the present day today in the West Loop, it is housed with different cultures all around such as Italian and Greek ancestries. The average cost to live in the west loop ranges from $300,000- $1,000,000,000. The average income from west loop residents is $98,285. People around there 20’s-30’s tend to live in the west loop. Robbery crime rate is pretty high due to the luxury lifestyle.
