6.  Anzhero-Sudzhensk was founded in 1897 in connection with the construction of railway line and the beginning of coal mining in Anzherskaya and Sudzhensk Mines (mining village Anzherka and Sudzhenka), which in the late 19 - early 20 centuries produced over 98% of the coal of Kuzbass.
