Gcse examinations summer 2017

Stopsley high school Exams start next Monday 15th May with BTEC Music and GCSE Sociology. Early lunches also start on the same day. Lunch break will be at 12.20 pm after period 3, with periods 4 & 5 after lunch. This allows us to run the exams without disruption. Morning exams always start at 9.00 am and afternoon exams are 1.30 pm. Make sure you have your personal timetable.

PREPARATION Black Pens, calculators, maths equipment, clear pencil cases. Coloured pencils needed for Food Tech. School pencil cases will be out on desks. Watches must be taken off and placed on desk. Smart watches are not allowed in the exam hall. Make sure you have a good night’s sleep and breakfast. Drinks in clear bottles (no labels) are allowed on your exam desk. Arrive at least 15 minutes before the start of your exam. Check seating plans to find out what hall and seat number you have been allocated. In extreme circumstances should you be delayed arriving to school we cannot hold the start for you. Make sure you phone the school to tell us the problem and what time you will be in. Medication – inhalers, hayfever tablets

Entering the exam hall Find out where you are seated. Make sure you put any notes, revision guides in your bags. Line up outside in house groups. Enter in silence – bags at the side of the halls. Take your seats, checking your ID card. Hand in your mobile phones, calculator watches, smart watches, headphones, any electronic devices. Wallets will be on your exam desk and will be collected in by the Invigilators. and when papers are given out make sure you have the correct paper and higher/foundation that you are expecting to see.

DURING THE EXAM The invigilators are there to help as well as to make sure the exams are run correctly. If there are any problems during the exam, let them know by raising your hand. If you leave the hall you cannot return, except for students who already have allowed rest breaks previously agreed by the exam boards . Toilet breaks – make sure you go before entering the exam halls as you will lose time from your test. When you start take the time to read the instructions through to make sure you understand what they are asking you to do. If you finish early, go back through your paper and check everything. Make sure you have answered every question and that you have read the question correctly.

FINALLY Results day is on Thursday 24th August. Results will be given out in the AssemblyHall. Written permission needed if someone is collecting on your behalf. Large stamped addressed envelopes if you want us to post out.

GOOD LUCK YOU HAVE STUDIED HARD FOR THIS AND NOW IS YOUR CHANCE TO SHOW THE EXAM BOARDS EVERYTHING YOU KNOW!
